The key message of Buddha's teachings is both empowering and optimistic: that if we turn within, and deeply come to know our own mind, we will discover a kindness, compassion, and fully awakened state that are naturally ours. And through this simple, seemingly insignificant, yet revolutionary shift in orientation we will come to discover our tremendous capacity to benefit ourselves and our world.
The key to this is the practice of meditation. This course takes you on a journey to discover for yourself first-hand the practice of meditation. Suitable for complete beginners as well as those with more experience, this interactive course provides everything you need to start meditating or to deepen your practice. Filled with clear and simple advice on how to practise, and how to develop inner peace, mindfulness, and awareness, this course will support you in your own personal journey of discovering, establishing and deepening the practice of meditation.
The course will be presented by Jan van der Breggen, one of Rigpa's senior teachers with over 20 years' experience teaching meditation. Jan will guide you through an exploration of key themes and instructions, drawing on advice from the Buddhist teachings as well as insights and findings from recent scientific research. The course consists of teaching, practice, and discussion.
